Do you want to try to keep the system or disable it?

Either way...I'd like to keep it if at all possible, but if not, I can do without it...

Re: 95 Jetta car alarm problems

Can you turn the alarm off by turning the key in the driver's door to unlock? Does the alarm seem to set properly when you lock the door? The more common problems are with the lock switch & the wiring between the door & body right at the hinges.

Hi, I have a problem with alarm also. (94 Jetta) and would like to just get rid of the problem! How can I disconnect it without disabling the car?

Re: 95 Jetta car alarm problems

The module is located above the driver's feet, behind the knee panel. It has two connectors, one 6-pin and one 10-pin. Dicsconnect the module & remove. In order to keep the starter functional you must take the red & red/black wires from pin #5 & #6 of the 6-pin connector & connect them to each other.

Re: 95 Jetta car alarm problems

I have a 1996 Jetta and the alarm system is weird. It only goes off when I use the key to open the trunk if the doors aren't unlocked. How is the system supposed to work as in how it can be set off?

It could be that the wire core in one of the 2 wires for the trunk lock micro switch has broken. The switch moves every time the lock is cycled. The truck lid liner can be removed after taking off the plastic retainer clips. After removing the liner, you will be able to get to the lock assy.and the micro switch. The wire insulation will probably look ok, but it could be the wire core or even the micro switch itself has failed. When these wires do break, it will be too close to the switch to be repairble. VW has reinforced the wires on the replacement micro switch. With the liner removed, it would be worth the effort to check the remote trunk release linkage. The sheathing for the linkage can bunch up and jam the linkage. Good luck Zeek. I hope this helps.

Thanks a ton bosch. I disconnected the battery on my '97 Jetta to perform some repairs. Upon reconnecting the battery the alarm would go off and I was unable to turn it off due to two broken door handle locks. Needless to say the car wouldn't start with the alarm going off. After reading your post I went lookin' under the knee panel. I disabled the module as u described and connected the 5 and 6 wires. Worked like a charm. Thanks again!
