98 Sienna low beam headlights not working
My 1998 Sienna XLE suddenly lost its low beams. The daytime running lights (DLR) also do not work. The high beams do work. This happened after I blew the cig lighter/power outlet fuse, which I replaced. I wonder it it was related?
I tried another -good- relay, with the same results. Also replace the bulbs. Could it be a problem with the photo sensor on the dash? I could not find another relay (other than the one under the hood) to the headlights. |

Have you looked for other blown fuses?

Re: 98 Sienna low beam headlights not working
Did you check the all fuses with a meter or a test light? Are you sure the bulbs are good? Did you check for power at the plugs to the headlights? Is there anything else not working?

Re: 98 Sienna low beam headlights not working
The same thing just happened to my 99 Sienna. Fuses, relays and bulbs look good (visual inspection). Anyone get this resolved? Any thoughts on the culprit being the light switch in the stem by the steering wheel?
Thanks. |

Re: 98 Sienna low beam headlights not working
The most common cause is the column switch. Test to make sure.

Re: 98 Sienna low beam headlights not working
I recently had the same issue on a 1998 Sienna. Low beams didn't work, but the high beam indicator stayed on when the switch was moved to low beams. Following the advise of this and other forums, I replaced the headlight (and turnsignal) switch assembly, and the problem is fixed.
In order to replace the switch assembly, it was not clear if the steering wheel needed to be removed (according to other forums, etc). I did not have to remove the steering wheel. There are two screws that are behind the steering wheel, holding the steering column cover to the steering column. However, these two screws are accessible by rotating the steering wheel 90 degrees in each direction.
