Exclamation 2 problems power steering and a fast ding noise

ok...on to the next problem. (god i love this van)

problem #1. OK here i go... the power steering unit was making very ugly noise. so...i got a rebuild kit, took it off, rebuilt it, and put it back on the vehicle. now the steering is very very tight and the fluid is is dark creamy in color. when the vehicle is raised the wheel turns fine. i did the bleeding or at least i think i did. i checked for bubbles and there is no bubbles coming to the top. when i lower the vehicle it is like there is not power steering. the engine is running very quietly (been a long time for that). What did i do wrong? also does anyone have a clear picture or drawing of the way the power steering goes back together. the drawing that came with the kit was very bad drawings. please help

problem #2. when the engine is running, and you turn on the lights....the door chime goes ding ding very fast and does not stop until you turn off the lights. yes the door is closed.

1. Is there any way the hoses were reversed at the rack?

2. The door is closed, but the door-closed-switch is likely not working.

Re: 2 problems power steering and a fast ding noise

Maybe something went wrong with your pump rebuild. You could check the salvage yards for another pump with pulley and try that, as a replacement. The air in the fluid sometimes has to have a vacuum pump attached to the reservoir cap to come out, a vacuum is pulled, with engine running for 3 minutes. You could use a hand vacuum pump attached to a rubber stopper. I once took a shop vac and held it on the opening and it worked, but be careful the fluid will go up the hose a bit, and it can get messy This can bring up stuck air bubbles to the top.Usually this is done after a new fluid change and if the pump is still noisy.

The door latch problems have been solved by spraying ample amounts of wd40 directly in the latch to temporarily free up the sensors from dirt and debris. These sensors are directly attached to the latch bottom and if you remove the inner door panel, you will see where the wire connection goes. There are also 2 latchs on the rear door that many owners have said caused them a problem.

After using the WD40 on the latch spary it with silicone spray to wash it away and lubricate it.

The wd40 will tend to gather dirt and you'll end up with the same or worse problem.

Oscar.

EDIT What year is your windstar, I might be able to get you a diagram.
