Need help locating a Relay
When I put my A/C on I can hear something come on but it isn't the blower motor cause that's dead. I bought the new Motor but the mechanic says I also need to change the relay. I did check the "Search" option but to no avail. I know it'll be behind the dash somewhere but before I strip my car down to the wheels looking for it maybe someone can give me the exact location and save me some time.
Thanks |

Re: Need help locating a Relay
cant see it being the relay. most times it is the Main Blower Motor Resistor located under the dash behind the blower motor. you can get a cheap one for 20 or so.

Re: Need help locating a Relay
So I go to Autozone and pick up the resistor for $31 (With shipping the site you showed would have come up to $27.75). So I guess I just paid a $4 convinence fee by picking it up locally. Anyway my buddy told me to replace the resisitor then check the original blower. Guess what? there was nothing wrong with the original blower. So I went back inside and returned not only the relay but the blower too. So what the mechanic quoted me as $355 turned out to be a $31 5 min job.

Re: Need help locating a Relay
you may have a blower moter on the way out. the moter may be drawing just over the rated amps and in turn blowing the resister. i have seen a lot of this in the last two years. but you mite get lucky.

Re: Need help locating a Relay
Could also be a water leak problem, hitting that hot resistor block.....but the new ones are redesigned to resist this...any water on the passenger side floor?

Since I've changed the resistor the heat pumps pretty good as it's always done but I'm not getting the A/C that I used to. I'm also getting a weird whistling coming from under the hood. I'm hoping it's not the water pump. |
