What is this chassis then?
And who is the driver?
It's #21R - these photos are also in the "GTR Livery Index" thread.

Driver's were probably Lehto and Soper as this would be their primary GTR in 1997, however if there was only one car brought out for testing it is safe to imagine that their teammates Kox and Ravaglia would have likely been given a turn as well. I defer to the other GTR experts here - Le Man and DocGTR - as one of them can likely confirm the answer.

OK thanks!
For me; the "legenrady #21R" gets more and more intersting history.

Definitely Soper was driving 21R at the pre-season testing as there's the video of him doing a time trial lap at Monza. Soper had a long history with BMW in different racing classes and raced the other Bigazzi GTR in 1996 so my assumtion is he was given the lead testing role in the pre-season testing. I couldn't find now any hard proofs if JJ Lehto drove it already there, but I'd find it weird if he didn't test the car there as he was hired as the lead driver to the team. At least he was testing the 24R for Le Mans at Paul Ricard with Soper as seen @ 0:28. Also Ravaglia had a long history racing BMWs before 1997 so even though it wasn't his and Kox's race car I'd suppose him being behind the wheel for some laps there at Monza too.

There's not much of info available around of the test sessions of that time, so it's kind of gathering the pieces of a puzzle afterwards. At least there have been some presentatives of the media so hopefully some magazines have made a story of the pre-season testing too for us to find someday. The actual races are covered much better.

Interesting, very interesting!
JJ was Paul Ricard testing with Soper, I don't just find the clip right now, must be that Japanise clip of #19R testing, where JJ were seen in the pitlane. But it must be that Le Mans pre-testing, if #19R were there in LARK livery.

One of my favorit clips on youtube, really get good feeling how 1997 GTR sounded!

Sorry offtopic....

BTW: it's 27R in the LARK livery, as you can see it 4:19-4:32 wearing the Parabolica windscreen banner and 19R in the black testing livery in the video too.

Hijacking With a Purpose

This is a bit of a deviation, but ... Just stumbled across this Porsche 968 for sale on eBay. The colour and some of the mods are a bit out there, but nevermind that. Take a look at the last two pictures:

I am guessing this was 022?

Hi Peloton,
I just saw this request! As background, the image was taken by Jeff Zwart and was used as the cover of the Road & Track 1999 Calendar; Mario Andretti was the driver. To me, this image gives an amazing impression of speed. Here is a slightly higher-res version (if I can attach it). Feel free to e-mail me for a larger version.

Very nice set of thumbnails

They can stay that size, for the money I calculated, for just one pic

Pretty sure I have those without their silly watermark - maybe with a different watermark - but not much bigger. I will dig into it later.
