Transmission housing broke. Help!

I have a 2001 GP GT and the trans housing broke where the gears are at. I will try to upload a pic. Can this be fixed easily or do I need a new transmission?

Re: Transmission housing broke. Help!

Unfortunately you will need a new housing. If the transmission is high mileage you would be better served with a new or used transmission. If you want a used trans contact Ed Morad at moradpartscompany.com he specializes in GM products and should be able to help you at a reasonable price. If you would rather search the local wrecking yards try car-part.com.

Is repairable,,,but needs to go to the bench to do so,,,,,,as stated if high miles,,should replace the whole thing,,,this is a common gm trans,,lotsa used ones around

Re: Transmission housing broke. Help!

Well here's an update on the car...
I have a buddy who owns a junk yard and looked it up and found several applications would work. He gave me a trans from an 02 Venture and said it would work. The only difference was the year. After talking to several people some said it would work, some said it wouldnt. I finally decided to chance it and put it in. It works great but now every time I start my car for about 10-15 minutes the security light flashes. Anybody know what could cause this?
