Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
seeing as the real tint is an applied film you could just go about getting some.
samples maybe? offcuts from garages/workshops? worse comes to the worst, just buy a full sheet. I've seen one place that sells 3m of the stuff for about £8.

Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
Remember the Tamiya´s Celica from Safari 92?
It brings film to achieve the tint effect. |

Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
there appear's to be a "soft" element to this Model which gives it a Heller/airfix element..
disapointing really our only hope is that tamiya make an accurate one... Bes kits also seem to be guilty of the same... Modelling is all about detail...unfortunately these new manufacters appear to be un aware or ignore this.. a few extra finishing electrodes and the relivate accurate reference material would execute an accurate model |

I just received my kits this morning, focus Simil'R and 207 Belkit, and I must say after a quick look at both that the 207 is far better and more accurate than the Focus...!! I won't criticize too much the Focus, but will say what has to be said, and I prefer thinking those big errors are due to too much enthousiasm, hurry or so, and still encourage Simil'R to go on but keeping in mind the fact that modelers won't forgive to plastic kits brands what they could to artisanal limited productions. Industry offers all good efficient tools to brands expecting accuracy, and if some can all can !! especially when mistakes are due to a lack of observation... May post here a cross review of both kits in the coming days... |

Constructive criticism might help then improve on future projects, but saying that they're bad!?......I suggest you selling your house to finance the production of a car model kit and see how well you handle all the hassle that comes with it. Again please give Simil'R and Belkits some slack, you might be surprised where they stand and have released in a few years from now. Last edited by Luc Janssens; 04-17-2011 at 09:17 AM. |

Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
idk why anyone is saying anything bad about the belkits 207, its a very accurate kit and the tooling is perfect, at least on mine. no warped roll cage or anything.

I'm doing this kit and I'm really suffering, but no more that with other models from Reji, Renaissance or Studio 27. Only difference from those is material (plastic) and cost (less than half of any of those other brands). I think that problem comes preciselly from this, when you hear plastic, think directly Tamiya, and obviusly compare Simil R with Tamiya is not proper. It's clear that this is not a perfect kit, not apt for beginners, but the effort that SimilR founders have made need to be take into account. Sure that they are collecting impressions from lot of modellers around the world and their next launch will be much better. |

![]() There's something that doesn't work in your way to defend Simil'R... Being at the start of plastic injection can only be an excuse for plastic or casting quality but never for inaccuracy of the model !! ![]() And they don't inject themselves plactic, this is made by a chinese firm who surely isn't at the same start !! So being a beginner isn't a sufficient excuse for me... The main problem with the focus isn't the quality of the plastic injection but some inaccurate conception choices and false parts !! (who would seriously pretend that it's because they are at the start of the business they put a wrong square rear wing ???) I don't see and believe what more experience can change into that, that only can be changed by more attention to accuracy and details. They surely have found a good way into modeling market by releasing expected WRC models, it's precisely because of that that it's hard to accept such mistakes...! They can answer to an unsatisfied demand, but will only be able to do it with accurate models. What is the most unacceptable is that any confirmed modeler knowing a minimum the car would have seen and ask to correct the mistakes... So why not them ?? and for example of the good points they are today all brands together the only one having made a correct AbuDahbi red !! So it's possible to do right. If I would launch a brand in this business the first persons I will ask to validate the product are those who will use it !! Industry considerations shouldn't be an excuse but an answer. (which is simple to say for sure but some make it even at the start) All I expect now is they get enough attention and industrial power to attend what reference brands attend. But way is still long... I purchased the Focus even if I don't like it, just to support this new brand, but I really expect more accuracy and they will need it to interest people. All the LHS I visited these last weeks since the kit release haven't sold even a single focus kit... There must be a reason...?!

Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
Hi, rallymaster:
I understand perfectly what you say. I also expected much more from this kit, but we have the same case here that for other brands as REJI, Renaissance, Studio27, MFH, etc. Maybe all of us know that a lot of work will be necessary in order to make an acceptable model, with lot of putty, adjustments and scratch to be made, just at the same way that I'm doing with the Focus kit. If we are able to accept this for a kit that cost more than double, why not with SimilR? The wrong thing here it's try to sell this model to the general modellers as a Tamiya, as the level of skill needed is high, more when price is also higher. We don´t know what problems they had for the 4 months delay. Maybe the quality for the probes were not goor or experience of the chinese company was not enough for precise model kits... I only hope people from SimilR take notes of all the comments in order to improve as much as possible their next creations. |

Re: Ford Focus WRC 10 1/24 SIMILR
Anybody have any links with details and interior of this car, I need it for kit?
BTW, I saw that Studio 27 will release PE set for it.
