Re: Cannot shift out of park
Where you parked on an incline without the parking brake on?
Try pushing the truck forward and shift into drive. I like going from D to N, push the parking brake On, than into Parked pos. |

Re: Cannot shift out of park
I'm not real sure about the location of this solenoid but are you positive you have power going to it? I know you say the brake lights work and the fuse is good, but if you don't hear the click to unlock it I would try to trace the harness down and test it with a multimeter at the point of connection to the solenoid. Obviously without 12V+ you will not be able to unlock the shift linkage. Also, I may be mistaken but I would think this would have two power supplies to it. The brake light switch sends 12V+ to the solenoid as a signal, but then there is a Key ON power supply as well otherwise the lock would disengage even with the key off. I would double and triple check my power and grounds before throwing parts at it.

Re: Cannot shift out of park
It might have two switchs on the brake pedal one for the brake light and one for the tranny shifter .

Re: Cannot shift out of park
got it fixed today,,,,simply removed solenoid ,,,shifts fine ...now it is old school,,,don't need to depress brake to release shifter,,,,yea!!!!!!
p.s.you don't need to own a certain type of car to add a suggestion!!!!! My personal favorite gas sucking thing to drive is my Dynamark riding mower !!!!!!! |
