2003 CR-V remote keyless w/aftermarket remote
I recently purchased a 2003 CR-V LX that came with a single keyless entry remote that is NOT Honda-branded (it has FCC ID: ELVATOC and P/N APS2K4SAW on the back of the case). It appears that this particular remote went with some sort of aftermarket RKE/alarm/remote start unit--however, I find no sign of an aftermarket receiver box or associated peripherals (valet switch, safety switch, dash LED) anywhere in the vehicle. I also understand, based on Web research, that factory RKE was offered as an option for the LX trimlevel in '03--so I may or may not have factory RKE on mine. This aftermarket remote appears to function like the original Honda remote in every way, except that it does not do the two-stage unlock (i.e., all doors unlock with 1st push of unlock button).
When I had the parts tech at a local Honda dealership run my VIN, all he came back with was what I already knew--that RKE was not standard on '03 LX's. Apparently, whatever he ran it against did not hit any Honda database that would give a conclusive answer as to whether the vehicle had factory-installed RKE.
My questions: (1) Is it possible that the original owner replaced a lost original remote with this aftermarket model--and actually got it to work? (2) How would I determine for certain whether my CR-V has factory RKE? (3) If I do have factory RKE, what is the reprogramming procedure when adding or replacing remotes (it's not documented in the Owner's Manual anywhere).
Thanks,
Pete
