The Panoz lives!
Dad got the car back on track after being down since the old 5.0 gave up at the UTCC last summer. Had a few obstacles along the way, the main being a used 347 shortblock that wasn't wasn't it was supposed to be (needed a rebuild), but she runs great now. Car made nearly 400 rwhp on a Land & Sea inertia dyno.... supposedly it would be 380s rwhp on a standard Dynojet.

Re: The Panoz lives!
Way cool! That's great performance from your 347. What intake are you using? Is your torque at 350 ft-lbs or above?

Quote:
1. AFR 165s 2. Edelbrock Performer RPM air-gap manifold 3. Pro-Systems carb The cam is a smallish cam that was custom spec'd for the previous owners application that worked out perfectly for broad torque curve we were after. The car is breathing through FMS shorties and flowmaster 50-series 3-chambers to try and keep the volume down. The motor makes around 400 ft/lbs of torque. Oh and the 3.89 gears were swapped back to 3.50s to keep the rpms around 6k max. I think the dyno numbers are optimistic due tot he type of dyno it was one on, but they swear up and down it would equate to 380s on a dynojet.

Re: The Panoz lives!
I think we are making very similar numbers. I pulled the EFI off of my Panoz 347 motor over the off-season. I went with a 650 Holley and a Victor Jr Air Gap intake. Got the engine runnng well, and then took it to the dyno for final tweaks. The engine dyno'ed at just under 370 hp and 350 torque at the rear wheels corrected. I was pretty happy. This was an increase of 50 hp over the EFI set up. The carb is as responsive as the EFI set up. I was amazed, as I thought that I'd have issues at roll on of throttle or coming out of corners. Not so, engine performed great.
Took the car to Arroyo Seco last weekend and ran personal best laps of 1:18.5 sec in qualifying. I won the first race on Saturday and took 3rd on Sunday. Very happy considering I was running against GT-1 cars with 700 hp LS motors and a NASCAR chassis with a 650 hp truck motor. THe bigs were running 1:15's. No way to hang unless they made mistakes.
