Wheel bearing maybe trans?

I have a 01 Accent, 5 speed, there is a grinding noise from the front driver wheel, and it seemed to be running hot. Took the caliper off, seems fine. Removed the axle nut, to inspect as much as we could. Jacked up both front tires, the passenger in nuetral spins easily by hand, the drivers doesn't, but the tire moves back and forth with a little play, caliper is free, and bearing. Ran the car jacked up and just the passenger tire spins, the driver side does not. Any suggestions is the trans bad or is this normal???
