Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!

About that RHD, Zoom, you know as soon as that kit fully hit's the market. Some one will come our with a resin LHD dash. As I will make one for my LFA once I get one.

Part of a $150 upgrade kit, for sure.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!

Just received my kit today. The kit is very typical Tamiya quality so no complaints there. You also have the option of building the drivetrain, suspension, and exhaust system separate from the chassis for display. The tires also appear to be a different casting. I was half expecting Tamiya to reuse ones from the Nissan GT-R or something. The kit isn't for everybody (maybe especially not for the Euro car lovers), but I thought I'd have a crack at it.

I just like the detail in the kit, nevermind if the car is a bit pointless. It even comes with PE stuff. Now if only I can afford it next time I go model shopping.

Hiroaki, a question, where you guys get this great Japanese TV modeling videos? From TVJapan on Dish Network?

On the other hand, the high price is due to the weak dollar. 5000 yen is 1.7 times the cost of a music CD in Japan. Suppose a typical music CD in the US is $15, Japanese value of the kit is equivalent to $25.5. Assume you pay $10 for the middleman's margin, $35.5 should be a reasonable US retail price. So the exchange rate should be 140 Y/$, not 82 Y/$.

There was a 9-hour (!) marathon broadcast of LFA build. I've been watching the recorded version segment by segment for the last few days. I'm not going to spoil you whether the builder finished it in time or not, but for those who're interested, here are the links to Part 1, 2 and 3.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!

Those were originally streamed by Tamiya on the web to promote the kit, not captured from any Japanese TV channels.
There aren't very many recorded videos, so I think Tamiya just started doing this recently.

OK, but, I have seen a couple of awesome modeling videos by great Japanese modelers as you are. The people that has uploaded them says that they are from the Japanese TV, but, they don't say exactly from where.

If you mean Plamo Tsukurou, you have to subscribe to either Sky PerfecTV's satellite or fiver optic service, or NTT's fiber optic channel called Hirari TV. (You have to be in Japan, obviously.)

It appears to me that the show can be purchased online for 315 yen per episode, but I can't access the server. I'll probably need a Japanese proxy.
