93 Thunderbird will not start

After my car sits for a long period of time it does not always start. I have to continue to start the car and eventually it will turn over. Other times, the car will drain the battery. Not sure what is wrong with it.

Use a 12 volt test light put it on the coil negative. Have someone else crank the engine if the light doesn't blink change the pickup in the distributor. If it blinks change the module.

Re: 93 Thunderbird will not start

Welcome to the forum bg00se. There is always a drain on the battery due to the electronics in the car including the computer, clock, etc. This means if your car sits for a long time you will eventually have a dead battery, unless you keep a maintenance charger on it. A Battery Tender or BatteryMinder are two good chargers that won't overcharge your battery. You didn't say how long the car sits without you starting and charging the battery. I'd have the battery load tested to see if that is your problem. Cold weather and an old battery don't mix well!

Re: 93 Thunderbird will not start

I have a brand new battery so that cant be the problem, also when my thunderbird is not warmed up, sometimes it has trouble accelerating and will often stall out..im not sure if these two problems are connected.

Does the engine turn over and won't start or does it take a long time to start?
