New-used 97 Rodeo

Just picked the truck up from craig's list for $500 has an oil leak and needs the starter replaced. Hoping i got a good deal has 244,000 mile on it. Oh yeah i just found out how hard the starter is to replace on the bad boy.

What you guys and gals think?

Re: New-used 97 Rodeo

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the easiest way to replace the starter is to unbolt the motor mounts, lift the engine with a floor jack and block of wood, remove d. side mount from engine, then you have all sorts of room to get it out through the wheel opening. Messing with the exhaust is trouble in the making. I can have my starter out in 15 minutes using this method.

Re: New-used 97 Rodeo

You have to unbolt both side from the frame, lift and then remove the d. side mount from the engine. You don't have to pull it all the way out, just set it aside.

Re: New-used 97 Rodeo

Does anyone know a part number for starter bolt? Im missing the two and having a hard time finding them in a auto part store and the Stealership is close for today.

If you don't know the part nuumber does anyone know the size of them may pick up bolts from the hardwear store.

Thanks for any helps.

"I didn't loose the bolts bought it from the owner this way lol."
