Exclamation 03 celica gt high idle

hello everyone my girlfriend has a 03 celica gt with around 126k on it. most resent it has had a problem of high idle its sits anywhere from 1100rpm to 2000rpm. i replaced the the tps sensor figuring it was the problems it seemed to get more consistent with the new tps it now sits at 1100 but it may still be high i don't drive it alot. and i forgot to mention no engine lite has anybody else had this problem? Ive herd its not common with toyota. i also looked for vaccum leaks as well but found nothing. any ideas would be great thanks everyone.

Re: 03 celica gt high idle

Maybe the IAC valve (idle air control valve).
Or the ECT sensor (temp sensor). The temp needle indicates the good temp?
Or maybe a vacuum leak (if you don't have MAF sensor).
Or maybe the accelerator pedal is sticking? (check the throttle position body under hood).

A Windstar without having the check engine light is not a real Windstar.

Re: 03 celica gt high idle

I did check to make sure the the throttle isn't sticking its hitting the throttle stop it does have a maf . also I checked for vacuum leaks and didn't hear any or find anything questionable. The temp reads normal as well i am too wondering it is is indeed the IAC ?

Re: 03 celica gt high idle

The IAC is often the more probable cause.
You can test it with a multimeter. You need a service manual to know the good voltage specs and pinout. The cable connector should have 2 to 4 pins.

Re: 03 celica gt high idle

have you checked the EGR VSV? IAC & throttle body need clean...oprobably clogged with gunk
