98 A6 wont start, radio wont turn off

hey guys, im new to the A6 forum...but anyway, my buddy's 98 A6 2.8 wont start. from what he has told me, when he tries to start it, it doesnt spark or turn over at all. also, he told me that he has to turn the radio off manually every time he turns the car off. removing the key and/or opening the doors does not shut it off. i think it has something to do with his ignition harness...but if any of you guys have any input, it would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance

It sounds like you have two things wrong not one. I think that you are on to something with the harness. The radio sounds like it is tied to the door actuator which is notorious for going bad. Do the doors all lock and the alarm arms when you turn the key in the drivers door?
