Slammed Mazda MX-5/Miata/Eunos Roadster

I have kind of a short attention span when it comes to models, can't really dedicate more than 2 hours on one so usually I work on a couple of them in parallel to keep me entertained :P
This is a Tamiya curbside kit of the Eunos Roadster.
Extra stuff:
-Old school japanese Fujimi Techno Phantom wheels with stretched tires.
-Hinged trunk, doors hood and pop-up lights.
-Detailed engine (type not decided yet)

I've cut some styrene to make the interior of the trunk and fitted and glued together the doors and interior door panels.
Next I'll add thickness to the doors.

I'm still trying to decide on what engine to put in it. Could be anything really, a 13b rotary, a V8. I even have a V10 from a Viper that I can use, either in full, or as a donor for the gearbox.
Do you guys know who makes stand alone 1/24 engines?

Project looks/sounds good. I'd personally go for the 13B rotary to stick with the Mazda theme. Also, if you're like me and think about how it would actually be like in the real world, the 13B would be great for weight distribution vs. a heavy/bulky V8 or V10.

You can either use the 13B-REW (twin turbo version from the late model RX-7) or the latter single turbo model (13B-T) from the FC3S version. Some of the Tamiya, Aoshima, or Fuijimi kits have the 13B-T engine in them (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10049082). I think even the engine from the new Mazda Roadster would be really cool too (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10049073), which the Fujimi kit includes.

Of course it really depends on how crazy you want to go on the project.

Re: Slammed Mazda MX-5/Miata/Eunos Roadster

You're right, the 13b will fit better with the JDM theme of the car.
I think I'll order a resin kit from Model Meister, I don't have the heart to buy the FC kit and deprive it of it's engine
As for the spare V10, I might build hot-rod from ground up sometimes in the future after I get more experience with styrene and scratchbuilding.

I've seen kits (umm...1:1) that swap in a 5.0 Mustang engine into the miata chasis

Re: Slammed Mazda MX-5/Miata/Eunos Roadster

A small update: I'm working on the stance.
I'm happy with the camber on the rear. It might seem excessive, but it's supposed to be that way
The front has been dropped by moving the entire front sub-frame upwards into the chassis by about 1 mm. Still needs to drop another mm or so. The rest of the drop will be completed when my order for the 13B will arrive. At the moment I have no idea how the engine will fit on the front subframe.
Until then I'll do the interior of the trunk and the doors.

@corvettekid: Monster Miata FTW
Maybe I'll build another one with a V8, I love Miatas!
