08 endeavor engine noise

This noise is a humming type noise coming form the engine. It usually occurs when driving for a while--10 or more mile, and coasting into town. when you accelerate from then on, it will give a humming noise until a higher rpm is reached--approx 1800 rpm. any suggestions?

Re: 08 endeavor engine noise

It is AWD. This noise has only recently came about. It didn't do it when new. The fluids are all good, and seem fine--I'm a Diesel Mech., so I've looked for the obvious. It doesn't do it all the time, and didnt do it when it was at the dealership--as usual!!

Re: 08 endeavor engine noise

There was a tech tip in a Mitsu news letter from last year (not sure what month) but it addressed an odd noise. The rear driveshaft carrier bearings start squawking and the sound travels through the driveline and end up sounding like a rear diff or a belt noise that comes in between 1800-3200ish rpms. Try disconnecting the rear drive shaft and see if the noise goes away. MOST of the time it is the driveshaft but SOMETIMES it is the rear end.

Re: 08 endeavor engine noise

Well third time back to the shop for the same noise. Two drive shafts (second was worse than first)and a rear diff this last time. Man I hate having problems. We'll see. the misses is on her way to vacation. Better not break down. I am starting to lose confidence.

Re: 08 endeavor engine noise

I helped, but apparently did not want to recognize the people likely to be able to identify the problem with dealer. If you have had a bad experience, try another dealer. We have two engineers and two technicians master Master Elite.
