I need help with an odd transmission issue
I just bought a 1998 Grand Prix GT and it doesn't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear until about 3300 rpm's and I lift off the throttle. It only does it upshifting from 2nd to 3rd. Everything else with the transmission seems to work properly. I've never had anything like this happen with a trans before. Thanks, and I appreciate any help.

Re: I need help with an odd transmission issue
most likely a shift solenoid issue, have you had it scanned with a trans code capable scan tool?

No, I haven't yet. I'm going to this Friday hopefully since I'll finally have time off.

Re: I need help with an odd transmission issue
Trans code capable scan tools are expensive, not your typical parts store code reader. Companies like Snap-on and Mac sell them, but unless you find used on e-bay or craigslist, they are too expensive for a typical DIY'er.
