1977 Chevy K10 - Starting Problem

I did some digging around on Rochester carbs. Looked up info on decoding and rebuilding. I have taken everything that seems like reliable and complete information from trustworthy sources and posted it below.

Using their guide, I decoded my carb and here is what I found:
17057525 APP 3356
170 - 1975 and Onward Rochester Products Division of GM
5 – Decade Produced 1976-1979
7 – Year Produced – 1977
5 - Model – Quadrajet (4bbl) California standards
2 – Division - Chevrolet
5 – Transmission – Manual Transmission (this truck is an automatic)
APP – Customer Code
3356 – Date Code





Also did some digging on rebuilding the Q-jets and found this page that I believe gives a good idea of the rebuilding process: http://www.vetteprojects.com/kstyer/quadrajet.htm



In another thread under Nonspecific, someone had a question regarding a 305 intake and another member suggested reading the book "How to Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors" by Cliff Ruggles (available on Amazon and Walmart websites). It seems to have garnered good reviews so I may just order it and read up.



Lastly, I also found a series of videos on Youtube made by a few guys that show the entire diassembly, cleaning and rebuilding process.




Since I can't work on the truck for the one next week, I guess it'll be time well spent researching and reading up this stuff.

UPDATE: Monday, January 10, 2011

In order to keep this thread from getting too large with pictures and data, I will be documenting the carburetor removal, disassembly, cleaning, rebuild, and tuning in a separate thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1058406. Once that thread is complete, I will return to this thread to document anything else that remains.
