Gr4 - Tamiya kit
GrB A2 - Renessans transkit for Tamiya (Or my fuller set)
GrB Sport Quattro - Scaleproduction transkit for Tamiya
GrB S1 - Profil24 kit

Renaissance also do a Transkit (body only) of the A1 - Visually the same as the A2, but only a single cooling duct ahead of the rear wheels, not 2....

As far as I know this car had an alloy block (instead of the steel block in the Group 4 car) but still with the original 2154 cc displacement, putting it into the over 3 litre weight class once the turbo equivalency factor was added....

The A2 (and later) cars were 2133cc, which allowed them to run lighter

Yes, precisely. I have forgotten about А1 from Renessans. But I did not see never decals for factory car A1.

Basically the same as the Group 4 car (I believe) - White with the classic 'Audi' stripes - but with minor differences in the sponsors (Michelin vs Kleber tyres etc)... Hard to find good quality photo's on the 'net though...

I'm building mine as a Monte Carlo car using the decals from the Group 4 kit, along with some other decals from the spares box... On tarmac the cars ran BBS style rims with black cooling fans (discs) on them - and looked awesome..

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hi guys!
Progress from my Audi.
Has collected a running gear.

I had no complete set decals for this model.I have printed thin strips and some inscriptions on the printer.
I had logos НВ, but they were very old. I couldn't put two decals on forward fender.

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hei, Romik. Fantastic work and very useful lessons.
I noticed you has modified wheels from those appearing at previous advances (looks really better now). Any picture of the process and materials used?
Thanks in advance

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hi Roman,

Great work as always, but this time I think you did a little mistake painting inside in black, it was white to me...

What did you put between fire extinguisher and gear lever, is it a kind of brake control lever ?

The seats are really well done with Kevlar and bottom fixing parts...

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hi Phil!
I thought to make an interior of white color. But then looked at these photos. It seems to me that on them an interior black. And still I have looked at model Ken from Japan. It too painted in the black.

Re: Audi sport quattro

Beware of Ken's models, he's confusing paints tint very often, he painted the Maxi 5 Turbo Gold (?!?) instead of sand "beige" for example so he's not always a perfect reference for colors (nothing to deal with his talent to build BTW) and I also think that most of his books references may not inevitably show real original cars but sometimes replicas...
I by chance have a lot of books and videos from the real cars collecting through the years as these fabulous cars are my fvorite rally cars ever.
Also pay attention to the pics taken during night stages, there is often a light effect due to the highlight flash of the cameras that show a black inside because of the contrast inside/outside the car.
All the pics I have (and normaly already shared) show a white inside for the body inside panels of the sport quattro and S1 (the group 4 car had a black inside).
I could also confuse myself but I've checked the following linked pics I have and even the roll cage is white:
Corsica
SanRemo
Most of 1/43rd scale brands did the same mistake and anyway for most of the brands maker when they can't identify a color inside they put it black !!
Maybe influenced by some of the pics one brand or modeler becoming a reference for others, at the final point almost everyone do the same mistake...
I feel a bit confused to be bringing it to the front of the scene but I thought it could be better for you to know and better to know that now than once finished the build

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hi guys,
It was indeed black:

Rallymaster's Corsica photo is from 1985 and then at least the roll cage was white. But having gone through some photos it seems that the '85 Tour de Corse was an exception. Everywhere else the interior was black. Even in San Remo:

Hope this helps.

PS. Happy New Year!

I found some pictures which seem to indicate 1 car was black and 1 was white... the first and second pictures below show Rohrl's car; it looks like a white interior with at least a partly black rollcage (near the front window). The last picture shows Blomqvist's car and it looks like it has a black interior.

Re: Audi sport quattro

Hi guys! Thanks for your help. It really sometimes not simply to find the necessary photo of the real car.
Phil, I have remembered that has forced me to make such decision on color of an interior. This photo from the book. There it is visible that lateral panels of doors white and other details black.

I collected an interior with use of super glue. I think to disassemble it without damage of details not really.
