wow whata lemon! 93 dakota

I just bought a 93 dakota from a guy in South Dakota today, and I filled it up with gas (after he was already gone!) and found a gas leak on one of the lines. Then after work, I try to start it, and "click, click". After turning key several times, it finally started. Wire on starter maybe? On my way home in the dark, the head lights kept goin out. especially on bright. When on dim, they would just flicker, but on bright, they go out. Turning headlights off and on again will turn them back on for a while. Anyone ever had these probs before? Please HELP!

Re: wow whata lemon! 93 dakota

Was this a dumb question? NO BODY'S ever had this happen? My biggest concern is the headlights. Does this sound like the switch or a loose wire? If I can turn lights off and back on again to get them to work, is that the switch?

1) Visual inspect the battery connectors.
2) Have both battery and the alternator load tested.
