Question 1994 grand am se cruise control

I have a 94 grand am se 3.1L and my cruise control stopped working. I can't find any fuses blown. What would be my next step in solving this.

The upper fuse in the diagram, check for voltage, use a voltage tester, key on. Click on the link.

Re: 1994 grand am se cruise control

Not sure on that early of a year Grand Am, but you could check that your brake lights are all working properly. I know on my 2000 that there's two switches under the driver's dash that rest up against the brake pedal. One turns the brake lights on and the other turns off the cruise control. I think that the cruise switch also controls the center-light on the trunk lid. So if your left/right brake lights work but the center one doesn't, it could be that switch. The contacts get dirty, don't make contact, and the car thinks you've stepped on the brakes, so it turns off the cruise control. I recently had to take mine out and clean the contacts; put it back in and cruise was back to working. You'll have to lay on your back and stick your head under there to get a good look.
Hope this helps.
