1998 chevrolet lumina ls - instrument panel

I have 2 issues. I do not have the digital speedometer.
1. My "Security" and "Coolant Low" lights stay on all the time. No problem with coolant in radiator or recovery tank. Even had it changed and then checked again to verify. Any ideas on what I can do to make them go off?

2. Instrument panel itself. At night with lights turned on, instrument panel display is very dim. Can see some light behind the instrument panel but almost impossible to read the speedometer gauge or any other items on the instrumetn panel at night. Could this be a fuse or bulbs out? Just don't know.

Re: 1998 chevrolet lumina ls - instrument panel

If the coolant isnt low, and the light is on, usually it means you have air trapped in the system. Beyond that, the sensor could be gunked up and dirty. Possibly a malfunctioning sensor, but I would say thats unlikely. Unplugging it will turn the light off, but thats obviously not an ideal solution. If you've had the coolant changed and the air bled, I would try cleaning the sensor.

Is everything else dim too? Stereo (if stock), window buttons, door lock buttons, gear indicator (if its a floor shifter). Does anything change brightness when you move the dimmer switch up and down? If its just the instrument panel thats dim, its possible a couple of the bulbs burned out. If it was a fuse I would think you wouldnt get any light at all, so its probably not that.
