I have a 98 Park avenue ultra with a heating problem. The car has dual climate contol. I am getting cold air on the driver side and heat on the passenger side. I have changed the heater control head in the dash and also the temp door actuator on the drivers side but both have failed to fix the problem. I opened the case on the old actuator and it had a cracked gear so it needed to be replaced anyway. Any ideas or suggestions as to what is going on would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Re: 98 Park Ave Heater Problem!
It doesn't have arms going to any of the actuators. On a 98, all of the actuators slide over a shaft that is connected to the flaps inside the heating box and ducts. So, you think it may be that they have lost home position or could it maybe be a problem in the programmer? The programmer is full electronic with no vacuum lines at all. I'm not sure if there is any way to service these or not. Maybe it be worth going to a boneyard and try switching out the programmer? what do you guys think?

Re: 98 Park Ave Heater Problem!
It doesn't really seem like they can be put on many ways, it seems like they only move about 45 degrees. When I put the new one on the blend door on the drivers side and then turned the heater to hot, it didn't move at all. That's why I am kind of thinking it may be the programmer. it seems like it's not getting a signal at all. I think I will try what you are talking about though, taking them off and see if it will move not being atattched to the shaft. If not, I guess I need to see if I am getting current through those wires huh? lol

Re: 98 Park Ave Heater Problem!
I tried what you suggested today. I took the actuator back off and tried turning it to hot, hoping to be able to bring it back to home position. It turns out that the actuator was not moving at all. It is a new actuator, but I know you can still get a bad part, especially with electronic parts. I put a meter on the wiring and and for some reason it is not getting a signal at all. This now makes me think that it almost has to be a problem with the programmer. I have changed the heater control head and also the actuator. What do you guys think?
