Unhappy Regency 01 chevy express NO REAR AIR.BUT HEAT WORKS

I just had a new rear heater core put in at the local chevy dealer cause it was leaking.Well now my rear air does not work. Before the new heater core my air and heat worked fine.Any ideas as what chevy did to screw up my rear air?I also have just one master front control for both and a rear fan switch.

Thanks a lot

Yes air in front blows ice cold and yes the fan in the back works great.I wonder if the hoses to the rear heater core are backwards.the rear ac hoses going into the box in the rear are ice cold.Is there supposed to be coolent running to the back when the heat is not on.The chevy dealer screwed up somewhere when he replaced the heater core.with summer comming I can't go anywhere without the rear air.it is like a sauna for the kid's.

The all data sub tells you all about it and how it works and what to fix if not working.

Re: Regency 01 chevy express NO REAR AIR.BUT HEAT WORKS

My father had the same thing happen to his 00 express. Turned out to be the aluminum line that runs the air conditioning, runs under the fan, and is strapped to the frame using a stainless steel bracket. The bracket being stainless corroded the aluminum and you have leaked the coolant out of the rear AC system.

The dealer wanted 700+ to fix it seeing how the body needed to be pulled off the frame to fix. My father found a mechanic in town that got in there with a short piece of pipe and spliced it in. Recharged the system and he was good to go.

That is where i would suggest starting.

Smokes! That was a gnarly set of pictures. You see that his shirt or jacket is wrapped around the work piece, it dragged him in. He probably had his arm over the work dabbing on some coolant or was removing chips.

That looks like a healthy engine lathe, when they're hunkered down in "back gear", nothing except a power failure would stop it. Belt driven lathes would slip, but the end results would have probably been the same.

He must have been at the shop alone with no one to call over quick. A few shops I worked in had a standing rule that nobody was allowed to work alone. Not that I've always obeyed it.
