Headlamp cover is clouding up

The headlamp covers on my 2004 FX35 are getting very cloudy. Does anyone know a way to clear them up and/or prevent this?

They now remind me of the crappy ones found on older Neons.

Any help appreciated!

Jim

Re: Headlamp cover is clouding up

If they are clouding up from the inside, then that will be difficult to repair. If the outside is clouding up from scratches, a good plastic polish worked well for making my clear again. If they are clouding up from the inside, that is because moisture is getting in somewhere. You could wait until it appears that there is no moisture in the headlight, and then run a bead of rubber cement along the headlight seam(most likely where the moisture is entering). This may prevent any future fog ups.

What ever you do don't put any sandpaper on them.
There are still plenty of fools on the Internet telling people to use sandpaper on their headlights.

I don't know what kind of car's they drive but the FX headlights can easily cost $1000.00 each.
Due to their unusual shape polishing would be difficult.
The best method is to clear them up with an acrylic lens deoxidizer.
It's pure liquid with no abrasives.
You can prevent the clouding by using an acrylic conditioner (APC) on your lens when ever you wash your car. http://www.ibc34.com/Onestep.html
