Re: Honda Civic SiR II

The gear lever is now complete and ready for painting

Moving on to the foot pedals. For the lever I have used a piece of copper wire bent to shape and hammered flat, to this I will epoxy a piece of evergreen styrene cut to the size of the detail master foot pedal that I will use this will be painted matt black before the photo etched pedal is attached.

Re: Honda Civic SiR II

Work on the Civic is a bit slow at the moment, I have ordered some parts from From Scale Dreams, they have not arrived yet.
I have done a bit of painting to the chassis, adding some washes and a bit of dry brushing to add a weathered effect

I have also been trying to get rid of the sun roof showing through the primer on the body and filling a small crack I discovered on the rear bumper, almost ready for paint.

Re: Honda Civic SiR II

Got a coat of silver on tonight, I am pleased with the way it has come out.

I usually just polish the paint after it has had a couple of weeks to harden up, and I always get a good shine, I am thinking this time that I may shoot a coat of clear over the top first just to see if I get a better result.

Re: Honda Civic SiR II

As far as I know, metallic paints lose their shine and become dull after polishing, so if you really want to polish it, you need to clear coat it first.

Re: Honda Civic SiR II

Well things went bad with this project last night. My order of Kens Fuzzy Fir arived finally yeasterday so last night I decided to flock the floor area. Not sure what went wrong, this is not the first time I have flocked the floor of models although in the past I have always used Detailmaster product.
It turned into a horrible mess and its not going to be easy to fix. I have spent hours trying to remove the mess but its not going well, so I am not sure if I will be able to continue with this build.
