01 Impala 3.4L Idle issues
Hello i'm the lucky owner of a 2001 Impala 3.4L
I'm having issues with idle some days its fine others it revs a little high (it will cruise at 40mph w/o gas pressure) Some days it screams. some days its normal. Here is what i done I unplugged IAC when car was running normal and it will run normal all day long with it unplugged. If I plug it in and drive for a while it acts up. So I replaced IAC and cleaned IAC ports with q-tips and TB cleaner. It no longer screams like it use to some mornings. But still have issue with it driving the idle will creep up to where i have to ride the break in town. Now here is what i noticed as soon as i unplug TP sensor it stops high idling. Do you think this could be a faulty TP or is there somthing els that controls the idle |

Re: 01 Impala 3.4L Idle issues
A bad tps can cause this but without a proper scan it would be guess work.

Any applicable codes? You may need to take the throttle-body off and clean it, all passages. The pcm uses the map sensor to determine if tps signal is in range.

Re: 01 Impala 3.4L Idle issues
You could use a digital multimeter on the tps signal wire, key on, move throttle up and down, see if voltage signal moves up and down smoothly?
