Ah. That's the thing, I'm very sure I never messed anything up. The problem is, if the bottom of the cowling is flush with the bumper, the side where it meets the main body will have a large gap. And if the side meets flush with the main body, the side that meets the bumper will have a gap.

Another problem with this model, which I'm very sure is a production problem, is that none of the wheels sit flat on the ground. Every one of the 4 wheels is cambered outwards, so that only the inside edges of the tyres are touching the ground. I have no idea if the real car is built this way, but I'm very sure I never did anything wrong.

Here's what I mean. The front cowling only fits in these 2 positions:

A side view reveals that the chassis front is angled downwards rather than level with the main body. This obviously explains the huge gap.

But.....

The front chassis is prevented from sitting level because part of it protrudes and forces it to be attached to the main chassis at an angle.
There's no mistake here, both parts only fit together one way, and this seems like a major fit problem.

Sorry but somewhere you have made a mistake, because I built two 155's and one of them was the Jagermeiter and I didn't have any fit problem. The model was perfect like always ion Tamiya models.
And another thing, you forgot to paint the windows rubbers.(Or not).

My don't have that problem too. I build a Bosch 155 too, no fitting error. Check again, you might did something wrong and not notice it.

Steps to fix fit problems:

Puzzle over what's wrong
Go over instructions again and again
Find no problem with assembly
Disassemble chassis into major components anyway
Re-read instructions
Re-assemble and cement into place
Find out that fit problem is still there
Pull hair out
Make a jig like this. Tie it tight with a rubber band to keep it flat. Place plastic sheet spacers below the front chassis to force it to bend upwards. Apply pressure so that the chassis bends in a way it's not supposed to. Imagine it groaning in pain.

Blast the whole assembly with hot air from a hair dryer for 2 minutes.
Stand back and admire fit of the cowling.
Ok people, you shouldn't blame him for the mistake. Even big companies like tamiya stuff up 1 or 2 kits. They aren't perfect you know...

Its coming along pretty nicely, good thing you didn't give up.
