ARRC Preview

The American Road Race of Champions Presented by GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine is arguably the most important club racing event in the U.S. that isn't
named the SCCA Runoffs or the June Sprints. The event has grown from one of regional importance to one of national significance, with racer's coming from all
over the U.S., Canada and others. The racer's will have to tackle North America's most challenging circuit, the historic, fast, thrilling 2.54 miles and 12 turns of Road Atlanta.
The event is planned and hosted by the Atlanta Region of the Sports Car Club of America and they began planning the 2010 event shortly after the checker
fell on the 2009 ARRC. This capable group has it down to a science, and the ARRC is a model of how to put on a top flight road racing event.

As always, the ARRC will be the final event for the V8 StockCar Road Racing Series and all four class champions will be crowned there with each receiving
the beautiful Mo'sGold Championship ring. In the V8 GT-1 class Dave Machavern leads with 144 points to Charles Wicht's 116. Machavern, the former
Grand Am Rolex GTS class, has 27 career wins to his credit in the series as well as the 2008 & 2009 class championships. Machavern will have outstanding
competition at the ARRC from 2009 ARRC champ Simon Gregg in his Derhaag Motorsports Corvette, Bob Monette and Zach Monette in their Mustang's,
Paige Monette in her Corvette, former IMSA champ Gene Felton and the Mustang's of Tim Lyons and Richard Bridgette.

In V8 GT2, 2009 champ Bob Mayer returns with his CrossRoads Motorsports prepared C6 Corvette to battle with Ed Lewis' Z06, Doug Wilson's BMW M3,
Robert Finlayson's beautiful Performance AFX Motorsports Corvette and more. The V8 GT2 class is open to SCCA STO, GT-2, ITO, ex Koni Challenge cars
and the like.

In V8 GTA, Tommy "Holywood" Graham holds a eight point advantage over Lexington, North Carolina's Kurt Roehrig 144 to 136 with 2009 champ Randy Walker
in third with 115 points. Roehrig has run some of the best laps ever for a GTA car at Road Atlanta, and could be considered the favorite, however Graham,Walker, Tony Amico, Rob Morris and others are capable of spoiling his weekend.

The V8 SPO class should be a war with former three time Nascar Dash Champion Larry Hoopaugh, Paul Breehne, ARCA racers Bob Mitten and Ed Bull, and Lee
Arnold all having the skill and equipment to take home a win. Hoopaugh and Breehne go into the ARRC weekend tied in points for the championship with 140 each. No one else is close enough in points to challenge the pair for the Mo'sGold ring, so expect a barnburner from these two. Last year Hoopaugh and Breehne ran nose to tail for most of the race until Hoopaugh pushed too hard into turn one going off and letting Breehne by. Hoopaugh quickly got back under
way, came home third and took the championship over Breehne by just one point.

The V8 Series thanks its' marketing partners: SCCA, Atlanta Region, Road Atlanta, RaceTalkRadio.com, Hoosier, Goodyear, Mo's Gold,Howe, FiveStar, RaceCar Engineering, RacingJunk.com, Roehrig-Enders, GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine, Racing Limo's, SaferRacer, Randy Lajoie and Hess Racing Products.
