1995 Avenue stall and a couple of more problems

When i start the engine cold it can't hold RPM and stalls out, when i hit the gas for a couple of seconds it evens out. When I drive it cold and hit the gas it kinda chokes up and then suddenly just jumps out like there is a dam and it releases all the gas at once.

Second problem is that the check engine light is on, I had it checked they said no codes popped up, is there a way I can turn it off, maybe it is just the maintenance engine light like with the check oil light.

Third problem is that the security light is on at all times, some time ago my immobiliser wire broke inside the lock which made the immo activate. Anyways i fixed that thanks to the help of you guys but now the security light just stays on and doesn't turn off..any ideas what can be causing this?

Thanks in advance,
tartukaru

You need to check & clean the Idle Air Control (IAC) and throttle body. In addition, you could also have an inaccurate reading from the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT). The ECT acts similar to a choke used on old carb cars when cold. When the engine coolant is cold, the sensor will notify the PCM to richen the fuel delivery until the engine begins to warm up. This particular sensor (2-wire) is located on the end of the lower intake manifold (drivers side) below the throttle body.

If you have a CEL, you have a fault (code) which is stored that should be detected with an OBDII scanner capable of reading OBDI codes. What kind of scanner was used? I use a Matco 9640B for this purpose. Actron CP9150 & CP9190 also come equipped with the cables & software required. Of course, you can remove the negative battery cable to clear the code; however, you will never know what the problem was, unless the CEL returns and then you check with a OBDI/OBDII capable scanner.

If you did a bypass of the key recognition system, the security light indicates you are operating in "Fail/Enable Mode" which allows the engine to start & run, however the light will remain ON. If you plan to leave it like it is, you can do like most people and put a strip of black tape over the light, while some others elect to disable the light. The choice is yours.

Thanks in advance,

Re: 1995 Avenue stall and a couple of more problems

thanks for the quick response

I'll check the throttle fix options tomorrow

As for the scanner I have no idea as I was not present when it was being checked.

The security light wasn't on immediately after the fix, i did not bypass it, i soldered the wire back together and sealed it off. It re-appeared some time after the fix.
