'55 Chev Nomad.
Hey folks, this is my second build in 5 years or so, I also have the lexus LS400 that is slowly being built. I like to have 2 kits to work on as I prefer to work slowly.
I was sick of the common red/blue etc chevy's so I decided to go a bit odd, and probably disgust a fair few people in the process! The paint is Tamiya acrylic mini pots, brown and "buff" two tone. Matt black for the trimmings and as minimal chrome as possible. Wheels are fujimi 18" (I wanted simple modern wheels, that weren't attention grabbing). The AMT kit is terrible and it took a long time to clean up. I also shaved off the chevy badge from the front hood for a smoother look. My masking was a bit off, but both paints will be sanded and touched up for a better finish before i paint the window trims black. The engine is terrible and will probably be replaced with a resin engine kit. The interior is also terrible and has nearly no detail apart from the seats and dash, lots of work to do there too! I will keep you updated if you can handle the colour! heheh. Regards, Chris. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: '55 Chev Nomad.
It is probably too late now, but the 55-57 Chevys came in a wide variety of color combinations, many of which are far from the common red and blue. Have a look here for example:
http://www.55-57chevys.com/coccc/sho...s/1955/f15.jpg and the matching interior colors: http://www.55-57chevys.com/coccc/sho...or/1955/i1.jpg http://www.55-57chevys.com/coccc/sho...or/1955/i2.jpg My favorite would be india ivory/coral or the india ivory/yellow, but it is your car of course not mine. |

Re: '55 Chev Nomad.
Thankfully this kit comes with a wide variety of colours, not many matched by Tamiya acrylics, and I felt like something "different" even if different is gross :P i had to paint it to see what it would turn out like.
I have several more 55-57 kits I can paint stock. |

Re: '55 Chev Nomad.
The kit is terrible, but the hood sits on decent. the tailgate is a different issue all together though! mine will have to be an open tailgate model.
