Unhappy P1494 LDP failure

I just put my 420a back into my 97 rs, I removed it for a head gasket leak and wile it was out I just went ahead and rebuilt it.

Issue before I removed it.
Head gasket leak.
P0455 Gross leak

Issue after I installed it.
P1494 LDP mechanical failure.

I have checked the LDP and it is working, I can here it clicking away just like before. check the vacuum and it is 1hg (I'm not to sure what it is to be)

I checked the vacuum diag. and the routing of the lines and they are the same.

My question.
Has anyone else had this same issue with the P1494 and what was the solution?

I read about a LDP sensor can someone tell me were it is at?

Thanks
George

It may just be a dodge thing I did a P1494 search and seen it on a Chrysler forum and was just wondering if there might be one in our eclipse's being they are diamond star, I know my LDP is only 2 years old so It should not be bad. it was replaced before I bought the car.

I have checked the vacuum lines and elect connector but the code still comes back

The LDP or Leak detection pump uses vacuum from the intake and regulates the vacuum in the EVAP canister to pull fuel fumes from the gas tank and send them into the intake to be burnt.

it draws a vacuum on the fuel system and checks it for leaks

Re: P1494 LDP failure

OK I have done some more research and what I thought was the LDP that I was troubleshooting was the purge solenoid,

So now this is the issue

the LDP on the vacuum diag under the hood is the same as the ventilation solenoid in the manual, why the diag. on the car is different Who knows? don't really care just something else to confuse us with.

Any way does any one know how to test the EVAP ventilation solenoid on these. I do not really want to buy one and find out it is not the issue

Re: P1494 LDP failure

Do you have a manual for the car? it should tell you how to test it. I dont even have the vac lines hooked up to mine anymore. Not getting any codes or anything for it.

I have the backup manual on CD that I got from the DSM forum, it tells how to test the purge valve but not the vent valve.

before I rebuilt the engine I was getting a grouse leak code, when I bought the car I was told the LDP was replaced now that I got the engine back in the only code I get is the P1494 mechanical failure, I'm thanking the valve is bad but was still hoping to test before replace.

Re: P1494 LDP failure

So I got in the car this morning to go to work, turned on the key all the idiot lights came on I started the car and the CEL went out. OK cool, after I got to work I threw on the reader it still shows the P1494 code but and gave me a yellow smog light saying it might or might not pass smog.

so we will see what happens in a day or 2.
