re-new alternator & need to clear codes?
On my 01 3.1L SE, 115k mi. Changed the alternator w/duralast rebuilt, in the box was a note warning codes may need to be cleared if trigered otherwise alternator will not charge. Called Autozone they won't clear codes. Nice! Why did I buy the alt. there? Is that the case when alts. go bad?

Re: re-new alternator & need to clear codes?
unless the SES light is on you won't need to clear any codes.
How much was the duralast alternator? I bought one a while ago for the GTP from o'reilley's. They were the only local company to offer a lifetime warrenty on thier alternators. So I went with it. One thing to do though is install a battery charger on a slow 10A charge while you replace your alternator. This should keep your new alternator from going into full field right away and burning out.

Re: re-new alternator & need to clear codes?
The Duralast remanufactured by delco goes for $145 plus tax and the all new $169, BOTH are lifetime warrty. Thanks for the prompt response guys. This site is the best!
