story with a question
haha, funny story. i was up at a light with some white pick up truck next to me and it was merging up the front (not a racing story) so i went just normally, and he was all like, revving his engine and everything, must have been trying to power shift or something. and then he tries pulling in front of me, so i double clutch from 2nd to 1st and run it up to red line, then up to 50 on 2nd, and then 3rd, i pass him and i get to the merged lane first. woo hoo, it's all good.
i look down at the gas meter, and the needle is in the negative section. like, it's hitting the bar that makes sure that it won't fall and point at the ground. i was like, what the... and then, suddenly, all my gas comes up to where it was before this quick run. does anyone know what's causing this? |

i think its due to your fuel injection system going into a higher flow rate mode. it will suck petrol at a higher pressure so the car has enough reserve not to run lean, and then it dumps it back again when the return valve opens. your problem sounds extreme though, on most cars it makes the fuel guage dip slightly.

Just my 2 cents; when I first saw it I was thinking gravity and momentum, or a negative force once the accelerator was applied. For example when you know your close to E and the idiot light has not come on yet, and you go up a steep hill(making the gas fall to the rear of the tank) The light will come on and and then the needles falls a bit then once you level out, the light goes back off and the needle comes back up. So accelerating would cause the gas to fall to the rear of the tank, kinda like G-Force, but not that extreme.. You know what I'm saying? Anyway just thought I'd share what my thoughts were.

94-95 Accords have a known issue/recall with the fuel level sending unit.
what you described is one of the problems already discovered. another problem is not reading full when the tank is full. |
