01 legacy 2.5l ; 5w20 vs 5w30; piston slap

Has anyone tried 5w20 to reduce piston slap when engine is cold. Tried almost all grades except 5w20 and 0w30.

BTW, I always use synthetic.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Reduce piston what? wear? Just use what the engine calls for, boxer engines are prone to lower cylinder/piston wear as is. If you change it normally you shouldn't have a problem.
