97 S-10 Need Help! I'm Lost!
1997 S-10 has been running okay. Replaced starter about a month ago, battery is only a year old and still good. But two days ago, it started to turn over then stopped and now nothing. Won't crank although dash lights, radio, headlights all fine. Had the battery checked, it's okay. So, I've been looking in the worthless Haynes manual, looking at the forum for advice and I'm lost. I checked the ignition and ecm fuses. They're okay. I looked for a pink wire leading to the ignition module and can't see it. I don't even know where the module is (I said the manual was worthless, didn't I)? There was a mention about relays. Which ones? Where? I want to check the ignition switch but don't know where to start (again, there ain't no pink wire). Where do I start, because I don't want to have to tow the truck somewhere and go broke paying for a repair I can do myself. Thanks for any advice/direction. One other thing. I tried to start it again and heard a sound from the glovebox. There's a relay access panel there with three gray relays. What are they? Could this be the problem?

Re: 97 S-10 Need Help! I'm Lost!
Sounds like a typical ignition switch problem, 97 is known to have "issues". Check the easy stuff first: Take the connections apart at the battery and the starter and clean them up and tighten them. There is a 175 amp fuse under the battery, might want to check the terminals on that too.

Re: 97 S-10 Need Help! I'm Lost!
The pink wire you're looking for is under the steering wheel. It runs from underneath the key tumbler (this is where the ignition switch module is) to a terminal block against the fire wall and above the steering column.
Wiggle that wire as close to the key tumbler as possible. The ignition switch module has a couple of metal contacts the wear unevenly. Sometimes shaking the pink power lead is enough to make good contact (if indeed your switch module is bad)
