97 Trans sport bad trans.
Hi,
The transmission in my 97 Trans sport van has bit the biscuit. It lost third gear for a while (almost a year) and then last summer (a year ago) it would occasionally lost all gears and the pump would make noise. You could shut the van off, and restart it and it managed to get me home where its been sitting ever since. I started it around once a month or so, and just drove it a short distance. I don't trust that transmission, it needs to be replaced. Anyways, I have access to a rebuilt trans out of a 99 Venture. How do I know if that one is going to work? I'm not sure if my Trans Sport is a 4t60 or a 4T65. How can you tell the difference? I take it they are not compatible with each other. Thanks, Ryan. |

Re: 97 Trans sport bad trans.
I Am quite certain that you have the 4T60E.. And I believe that the 99 used the 4T65E...
Look at the Transmissions connector, if its on the front( radiator ) side of the trans then you have a 4T60E, if the connector is on the Drivers side of the trans you have a 4T65E.. |
