1998 E150 Conversion Van start problem and locks turning on/off

When the temperature outside is in the 80's or above, sometimes my van won't start. If I let it sit until the temperature cools off (in the evening, or in the shade), it will start. Or, if I open the hood and let air flow in, sometimes it will start. It has been extremely intermittent, and absolutely did not occur unless the outside temperature was quite hot. Also, sometimes my power locks and inside light will engage and disengage by themselves a few times, of their own accord. This can happen while parked or driving. And my driver side power lock doesn't always unlock with the key fob, but the other locks do, and it locks fine with the key fob. Also, as of two days ago, the Check Engine Soon light is on, and the van hesitated as I started to pull away from my house. I drove around the block and parked it back in front of the house and haven't tried it since, as I don't want to do more harm than good. Any ideas on what could cause such strange issues? I was thinking it might be a module, or an electrical issue of some kind. Can anyone give me some advice on what to try first?
Thank you.

Use a 12 volt test light and put it on the negative coil terminal when it won't start. If the test light doesn't blink replace the pickup in the distributor.
A tool is needed to replace this part. You can purchase a rebuilt distributor.

Otherwise replace the module. http://www.ebay.com/
Search KD module socket its 5.5mm

Hi:

Did you ever get an answer to your problem with the locks? We have a 1995 Econoline that is doing the same thing. It's very annoying!
