Unhappy 2000 Kia Sportage Starting Problems

I have a 2000 Kia Sportage, that up until a few days ago, was running fine...going down the road died, and would not restart...the only code that came up was crank sensor, replaced that, ran fine for 3 blocks then died again...hooked back up to computer, and no codes. Wouldnt start for 2 days, then i got it started again, two blocks, and died again....both relays, iac, and fuel pump look fine..I dont have a fuel pressure tester, and cant afford to buy one that i will only use once...any shop wants to charge $100+ just to diagnose it...does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

Hi, have had same problem but hasn't died on the road. Crankshaft sensor code came up on a computer hand analyzer loaned to me. I cleared the code and I started the engine and engine light went out. But several times before it wouldn't start, or maybe 3rd or 4th time. What I did was disconnect the battery, both terminals, touch the two cables together, this will de-engergize any current in the electrical system. Reconnect the battery, I usually do the positive terminal first, then the neg. terminal.
This should reset the computer and it should start. Worked for me. But your problem could re occur at some point.

These new cars are an absolute pain in the ass. Why should one sensor knock out others and not allow the engine to start. The mass airflow
sensor is a bloody joke. None of these cars really need them. Its just more crap to make things go wrong so the garages can gouge the public.
Governments should clamp down on these automakers and with the modern technology, cars should be simpler to work on, not more
difficult. On the kia sportage for example, the oil filter is almost upside down, when you remove it you got to have rag around it and then you spill some oil. I would have fired the design engineer who designed the motor to have the oil filter upside down. How stupid can these so called engineers get. Guess its like the rest of our society, going all to hell. The mechanics, (oops, auto technicians) must have a nightmare trying to fix the vehciles built today. Cars have been built for over a hundred years and the auto manufacturers can't get them right yet. Look at all the recalls. Can't beat the old cars of the 50's and 60's. Guess thats nuff said.
