99 Zr2 Gauge Cluster

My 99 Zr2 Blazer gauge cluster works when it wants to. I was going to get another one from a junk yard but I dont know if it will effect the mileage at all. Does anyone know if it will or have any tips for changing it?

Electronic mileage read out should be stored in the VCM.

Ok thanks. Does anyone have any tips on changing the cluster? I have never changed a cluster but have taken dashes apart to install radios. Is it more difficult?

Re: 99 Zr2 Gauge Cluster

It is no more involved to change the cluster than a radio. Just a bunch of screws and tilt the wheel down is all. You shouldnt have any trouble. We did do a cluster job in a K truck once where the customer took and drove the truck while waiting for the cluster to come back in. The dealer had to flash the cluster mileage to match the PCM before the computer would let the truck run. You might have to do the same.
