01z24 holding 2500rpm idle help
Hi all ,just found your forum during a web search. I have this Cavalier along with a Corvette. Live up in the north east. Hope someone can help me on this problem.
My 5 speed with 80,000 miles all of a sudden started acting on the hgy like i had cruise on. It wasn't. At stop it would hold idle around 2500 rpm sometimes dropping to 1700 but never lower. No codes thrown. I have an autoxray scanner and it showed 35 clicks at idle for iac but funny part it showed 35 at idle with iac disconnected and still no code thrown. when i switched on the a/c the count on scanner dropped to 30 and stayed there. even if you manually raise idle it stays at 35 clicks or 30 clicks with air on. I have a led tester for fuel injectos and such and i unplugged the iac and back probed the harness. It shows 2 of the four wires constanly blinking at aprox the same rate as if ecm is trying to open and close iac at same time. If i start the car without leaving the ign on for aprox 30 seconds it will have idle speed os aprox 3800. If you take the air pipe off and watch iac while car is running, air is screaming by port as it goes around and down. i can slow idle by using my finger to block iac port into throat. Does anyone know where the ecu is ? Haynes says under the air cleaner. Its not. Sorry for so long a post i'm just trying to give you as much info as i can. BTW,i replaced the iac Thanks Bill |

Re: 01z24 holding 2500rpm idle help
I found the ECM. Its in front of the R/F wheel on the outside of the frame . there is an extension flap that encloses it. BTW the BCM is at your left knee under the dash, found that while looking.Still trying to fix idle. I'm the only one with this problem????
