Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
I have just received Ditech Porsche 924 GTP (or Porsche 944 GTR, or...) body. Rest of the parts, almost all in paper are un-usefull. Only plastic sheet with cristal could be use for lateral winows.
Under my point of view, the body has enough quality as there are not so much burbles. For me, it`s a good starting point for my next project, the nº1 BOSS version of Le Mans 81. It needs lot of work, but I think no less I spend in other projects naming Tamiya, Studio 27, Renaissance or whatever. Also decals looks good. Price of all? 46€. ![]() ![]() Only two hours later, working only with knive, you can get something looking much better: ![]() For sure that cost is a little high, but it`s the first time I have seen (and I was looking for it for long time) this model and more important, the decal sheet. Ditech is another option. My opinnion about the Mercedes? Mold was old, using in a lot of copies, but I had same problem with a Renaissance, and with Studio 27, and with..... Borjacho |

Borjacho[/quote] I am happy hear some reasonable people. We have to remember that those models were not made for static display, instead for slot racing that is the reason for the paper interiors. We, the ones ever searching for the "no one have that model" are adapting them to statics, sure it will require work. But it will also bring satisfaction. |

Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
No they come with a paper interior. Keep in mind that these are slot cars and not static model cars. But you maybe able to use the paper interior to scratch build one out of sheet plastic.

Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
I am not familiar with slot cars, say with the ditech resins, do they come with the base and the wheels? so for it to be used for static models, i will need to create custom interior such as seats etc right? and i presume they are curbside (no engine?)

That 924 looks good. I have been wanting to do that project sooner or later. I bet you could easily adapt the racing 944 interior and chassis to that kit. I may have to get that kit in a month of so when I have some money.

Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
Wow, cool that there are new scratchbuilders with Ditech's bodies!
And sorry for my silence in the air - I'm currently on army courses, and can not continue building my Merc until end of August. But it was very nice to see others starting building Ditech's bodies. By the way, here - 2000 kms away from my home and Merc kit, I've had some thoughts on building and finishing this body. |

Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
Basically all you get is a body and some other bits that would go on the body with that model. You would have to source all the other parts to make it a curb side or full detail static model. Some of these kts are based of model kits. Like the Escort Gr. 5 is base from the ESCI/REVELL Escort 1800 rally car. So you maybe able to use the glass and othe manufactures detail parts for tis kit.

Re: Ditech's Mercedes-Benz 5.0 SLC Hans Heyer Gr.5 1981
To be honest... even looking at it as what it is... I would be ashamed to sell such a thing at such a price - even as a slot kit. There are quite a few companies out there that sell better slot kits for the same or even less money. Given - if they are the only ones producing the subject one desires it's the only way to go. Or modify an existing (in this case Hasegawa or Revell 944) kit and give the master to a professional resin caster who is reknown for excellent quality at reasonable prices. Just my two cents.
