towing with Pontiac Vibe

The Vibe is rated for 1500 lbs. towing, but has anyone had any experience towing with it? I have a small boat and trailer probably total weight of 1000 lbs. I really like the Vibe but wonder about how it would do towing.
The engine is the 1.8.

Marginal at best, you should be ok on level roads, just rememeber handling and braking will be much different/slower.

Thanks, Maxwedge for your response. I'm thinking that maybe a little heavier vehicle like an Escape with a 6 in it would be better without going to something that would guzzle the fuel. Thanks again.
