1996 Taurus Electrical problem
Hi All
I have a 1996 Taurus GL 4 door sedan the High beam indicator on the dash does not come on when high beams are on Under dash lights and luggage compartment lights don't work either I don't know if these are related but think they must be Everything else on the car works Checked all fuses. Visually look good What else to check? Any advise would be great |

Re: 1996 Taurus Electrical problem
If your high beams work then most likely the high beam bulb in the cluster is burned out. Same thing with the lights under the dash if the interior light works check the bulbs. Might just want to replace them they are not the expensive.

Re: 1996 Taurus Electrical problem
There is an interior lamp relay that controls power to the interior lights. It receives power from 10-amp fuse #27 in the instrument panel fuse panel. The interior lamp relay is in this fuse panel as well. I'd suggest you start by checking for power to the relay. Do you have a wiring diagram for your car? Are you comfortable with a multimeter or test light and checking automotive wiring?
The high beam indicator is powered directly from the same circuit as the high beam headlights, unless your car has Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs). -Rod |
