Exclamation Brake light on dash is on. 1998 durango.

The light that says Brake is on on the dash and it wont go off. We've checked the brake fluid, changed all brake shoes, and rotors. The e brake is not on. I am at a loss for what to do next. Also, the reverse lights wont work. We've changed the bulbs and checked the fuses. Nothing happens. I'm getting so fed up with this vehicle!! Any help will be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the switch is stuck in the closed position, to find out which one it is first under the hood unplug the level switch and using a jumper jump across the 2 wires if the light goes out your switch is bad and needs replaced. if not the the parking brake switch has come loose and just needs to be tightened, it's located on the mounting bracket for the parking brake pedal.
