Car died on the highway! Please help me!

I couldn't find the TL forum. I have a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL. It is in great shape. Until a couple months ago. My car kept dieing on the road, and my ignition was acting funny. I took it to a friend and he said he is pretty sure it is the IGNITION.

I looked online and it said that Acura had recalls for the ignition, and it was common for them to fail. He said it will cost $280 dollars to replace the ignition. Is the recall still active? It was issued in 2002. It is a safety issue, so I'm pretty sure the recall is still valid. If so. I am getting it fixed for free, hopefully.

CLIFFS:

-Ignition acting funny, car wont start and dies.
-Found online Acura issued a recall on Ignitions in 2002.
-Want to know if the recall is still valid, especially since its a safety issue for me.

Please respond. Thank you!

Are you taling about the ignition switch? When they act up you will notice a difference in how the dash warning lights work. The should be illuminated with the key in the run position, go out with the key in the crank position, and come back on for a couple of seconds as soon as the car starts. If they don't and they vehicle stalls immediately after the key is let go after starting than the ignition switch is bad.

Yes. When I put the keys in the car. The lights wont come on, until I try like 20 times. I go from off>run>off>run until the lights come on. It has gradually gotten worse over the months, and now my car won't start at all. Can bad ignition switches cause the car to not start?
