ABS Wheel Sensors
2003 Yukon XL. For the second time in about 4 years, the ABS system activiates at slow speeds less than 10 MPH as I'm coming to a stop. Same thing happened 4 years ago and the dealer replaced the wheel sensors. Now the same thing. The dealer says they are in a place where they corode easily.
Is anyone aware if this is an ongoing problem with the year's model? |

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors
There is a TSB for overactive ABS which says to remove the sensor from the hub, Clean the corrosion off the hub mounting surface, liberally apply di-electric grease to the mating surface, reinstall the sensor.
I have had about a 90% success rate doing this on anything with a serviceable sensor. Sometimes you have to replace the sensor or hub/bearing because they break off in the hub.

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors
Thanks for the response.
Can I drive the car without harming anything until I can get this fixed? |

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors
Your call if you feel the abs activation is not an issue.

Re: ABS Wheel Sensors
Overactive ABS at slow speeds can make things a little interesting. Make sure you allow for some extra room for stopping if you decide to drive it.
