Blazer door stuck shut...

On top of my water pump fun right after I got this beast home the drivers door decided it doesn't want to open anymore. And to answer the first question, no, it's not locked. The handle on the outside pulls up, and the inside lever pulls out but doesn't snap back...it just stays out. It's also really loose like theres no tension behind it. I had one person tell me a rod came off in the door...and now that the door is shut it won't be opening anytime soon. Has anyone had this problem or know a solution so I don't have to Dukes it every time I need to go somewhere? Am i basically going to have to bust the door panel off and hope that the local walk in junkyard has a decent one on truck? Help..?

Oh, it's a 91 4 door

Re: Blazer door stuck shut...

The latch mechanism where the rod attatches is stuck in a semi open position. Not far enough to actually open the door but just far enough to not allow the latch to unlock. All the handle linkages must be in the fully realeased position in order for the latch to unlock.

I see several of these every year. some poking and proding with a lockout kit will push them back into place
